License to Chill Snow Island
Visit Margaritaville at Lanier Island, where our lakefront paradise turns into a winter wonderland. At License to Chill Snow Island, we are now featuring more snow than ever in our winter attraction, but we are also proud to offer the fastest snow tubing hill in North America! This year, our attraction opens on November 22nd and runs through February 24th. We will feature snow fun the whole family can enjoy in the form of our giant snow slope for snow tubing, snow play areas, fire pits, and carnival rides. Let It Snow!
Having offered dazzling light displays for over 25 years at Margaritaville of Lanier Islands, we are well known for bringing wintertainment to residents. In recent years, however, we’ve added real snow to our park—further adding to the fun and magic of License to Chill Snow Island. This year, guests will be able to enjoy more snow than ever thanks to the addition of four state-of-the-art snow machines, making a total of six machines in our park. Different from a traditional snowmaking machines, our state-of-the-art machines feature SnowMagic’s cutting-edge ICS™ snowmaking technology—allowing us to deliver a truly unforgettable experience to our guests.
Georgia’s winter can be unpredictably warm or even rainy at times, which are not ideal conditions for traditional snowmaking. SnowMagic’s ICS™ snowmaking technology allows us to circumvent this and create beautiful snow that is indistinguishable from the real thing. Whereas traditional snowmaking requires temperatures of 32°F or below, the SnowMagic snow making machine can create up to 200 tons of snowfall a day regardless of ambient temperature. This means that we can easily produce the amount of snow needed for our 400 ft. long snow slope and our other features throughout the season without having to rely on Georgia weather! As a bonus, SnowMagic’s snowmaking machine does not require the addition of any chemicals or artificial additives, making it safe for children and even animals. Additionally, because our snow is environmentally friendly, we can recycle and reuse it after it melts, assuring we leave a minimal environmental footprint.
10 Lanes of Fresh Snow!
Parrot Mountain is perhaps our most popular attraction at License to Chill Snow Island. The mountain features upwards of 10 lanes of fresh snow and offers a thrilling 25-second ride for guests. We also feature a four-lane snow-tubing slide on Paradise Beach.
In addition, our Magical Nights of Lights is scheduled to run through January 6th and will see new twists this year with updated displays lining the seven-mile drive. For those interested in nostalgic snow fun, snow play areas can be found at Landshark Island, where guests are encouraged to engage in some old-fashioned snowball fighting. Fire pits, s’mores, hayrides, an ice-skating rink, lights on the beach, and visits with Santa round out the lengthy list of activities available to our guests.
