How Do Snow Machines Work?

When you think snow, you likely also think of the good things – the snowball fights, the cold weather, the holidays, and the bad things – the blizzards, being late to work because scraping the snow off your car in the morning is a process, and the endless colds that come with the cold weather. What if you could have the best of both worlds? Skiing the slopes, but not shoveling the snow off your yard? SnowMagic allows for snow to appear in less than ideal natural snow temperatures with their unique technology.

How Traditional Snow Machines Work

Traditional snowmaking can only work in temperatures under 32°F—this is because of the process of pushing water and pressurized air together through spray nozzles. Using the below 32°F temperatures, the water particles freeze while moving through the air. This process inhibits limitations for the product, not to mention the chemicals and snow additives that are typically required in this process, as well.

How SnowMagic’s Snow Machines Work

While snowmaking is not a brand-new concept, SnowMagic uses revolutionary methods, with the help of our patented Infinite Crystal Snowmaking technology (ICS™). So how does our snow machine work? Our ICS™ system freezes water particles to create snow crystals. The ICS™ system can produce up to 200 tons of realistic looking and feeling snow.

What Does It Use?

Let’s talk numbers. In order to make our snow, we just need water and electricity:

  • Our 50-ton snow machine produces 3,600 cubic feet of snow (50 tons) per day. It requires 58.83 kilowatts of electricity per ton uses 12 gallons of water per minute.
  • Our 100-ton snow machine produces 7,200 cubic feet of snow (100 tons) per day. It requires 48.24 kilowatts of electricity per ton uses 24 gallons of water per minute.
  • Our 150-ton snow machine produces 10,600 cubic feet of snow (150 tons) per day. It requires 47.30 kilowatts of electricity per ton uses 36 gallons of water per minute.
  • Our 200-ton snow machine produces 14,400 cubic feet of snow (200 tons) per day. It requires 51.24 kilowatts of electricity per ton uses 48 gallons of water per minute.

Environmentally Friendly Snowmaking

As you can see, here at SnowMagic, we have perfected a new system. Using our ICS™ system, no chemicals are involved – just water and electricity. The only ingredient that is used in our snowmaking process is water, making it safe for children, pets, and the environment. After melting, the snow can be recycled and reused.
